The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is investigating the Deputy Minister of Transportation
NACC Secretary-General Worawit Sukboon said his officials have begun to review several documents, but he has not been able to discover the details.
He said that if NACC finds evidence of hiding wealth, it will file a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of Politicians.
When the Bangkatai Party and his wife Weerasak became members of parliament in 2019, they announced that they would classify the establishment of the debt of 10 billion baht into the category of “assets and debts.”
However, Ms. Yolada’s latest statement has lost 10 billion baht in debt. Ms. Yolada became the President-elect of Nakhon Ratchasima Province on January 24 and was therefore required to declare her assets.
According to a recent NACC statement, the total debt declared by Mr. Weerasak two years ago was 10 billion baht, which has since become 35.5 million baht, which is only described as an overdraft of Ms. Yolada.
Mr. Weerasak said that the 10 billion baht debt was caused by someone else. He announced the debt two years ago only because he had acted as a guarantor for that person.
He said he did not announce this in the updated assets because a large amount of debt has been written off.
Mr. Weerasak said that he has submitted documents containing details of the debt, and he believes that these documents are clear enough so that he does not need to explain anything else to NACC.
Mr. Wallawit also mentioned that the four cabinet ministers who joined the cabinet recently stated that they do not need to declare assets again because they have become members of Congress.
The four are Mr. Weerasak, Minister of Education Treenuch Thienthong, Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, and Deputy Minister of Commerce Sinit Lertkrai.
He said, however, if they wish, the four cabinet ministers can choose to declare their assets as new records between March 28 and May 26.
