People of the northern and eastern cities that are mainly Kurdish, have held festivals to mark Nowruz; the Kurds’ national day. The people illuminated the fires and the torch of Nowruz, signaling the arrival of the festival, which the Kurds consider a day of abolishing slavery and tyranny and a symbol of liberation. Meanwhile, people in Qamishli flooded the streets wearing traditional Kurdish costumes, expressing their joy in completing the celebration rituals amid the spark of Covid.
