Kut Houses Two Different Cemeteries for The Turkish Army and the British Army

Kut, 150 km south of Baghdad, houses two cemeteries for the British and Turkish armies’ casualties who were killed during the siege of Kut. According to the residents of kut, Turkish forces besieged Kut during the first world war 1914, after the British forces took over the region. Casualties of the Ottoman army were buried in Damok cemetery on the left bank of the Tigris River. Moreover, the Turkish embassy in Baghdad is in charge of the cemetery that includes 50 graves. It coordinates visits to the cemetery, given the historical significance of such site
