Iraq: Some Political Figures are Exploiting Refugees’ Ordeal for Political Interests

Iraqi Jurists illustrated that political parties are exploiting the refugee’s issue to tout for their parliamentary elections campaigns and further their political interests. The law stipulates that voters can only cast their ballots in their original residential areas. Experts of the political arena pointed out those political blocs are using the refugee’s issue as a winning card in their campaigns while Sunni political powers refuse to hold the elections before refugees go back to their residential areas that were under ISIS control
