The government proceeds in Kep coastline development plan In Kep province, southern Cambodia, the government proceeds in the Kep coastline development plan to protect fisheries from overfishing and to develop Rabbit Island to be an eco-tourism destination. The government has started building a seaport that connects the Rabbit Island and is looking to complete it by 2020. Some parts of Rabbit Island, which is 30 minutes away by boat from Angkoul beach, are being developed by a private company. Citizens who rely on the tourism sector on the nearby Rabbit Island expressed their gratefulness for the development plan while fishermen who have been living on Angkoul Beach for 40 years fear losing their houses despite the government’s promise to grant them new lands to build homes on.
