The High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, announced that the European Union urged Turkey to respect the arms embargo on Libya and the outputs of the Berlin conference.
Borrell confirmed Brussels’s readiness to reduce tension with Ankara, but pointed out that the union is also considering imposing sanctions on Turkey in response to its actions in the Mediterranean, adding that the Federation Council condemned Ankara’s decision to convert the “Hagia Sophia” museum in Istanbul to a mosque, considering that This may stir fears, fuel religious disputes, and undermine efforts to develop dialogue and cooperation between religions.
