Josep Borrell, the High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy in the European Union, welcomed the “Cairo Initiative” to solve the Libyan crisis, as it “strengthens the decisions of the Berlin Conference.”
“The Egyptian initiative is in line with the decisions of the Berlin conference on resolving the conflict in Libya. All the initiatives that seek to establish peace and stability in the country are positive,” Borrell said, adding that he “agreed with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Bi about the need to take advantage of all opportunities to search for A comprehensive ceasefire in Libya and a return to the Libyan 5 + 5 military meetings in Geneva, as well as the initiation of negotiations under the banner of the United Nations.
