Israel retrofits home-use respirators into ventilators to treat coronavirus

Israel’s military said on Thursday it has begun converting common home-use respirators into ventilators capable of providing potentially life-saving breathing support for COVID-19 patients.

Around 150 engineers in the armed forces worked over the course of four weeks on the technology, which the military has patented, said Major S., who headed the project within the military’s intelligence technology unit.
