Washington urges Iraq to investigate use of force

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker said the recent violence in the Iraqi city of Nasiriyah in which at least 29 people were killed was “shocking and distasteful”, calling on the Iraqi government to investigate and punish those responsible for the use of “excessive” force.
