US calls on Hifter to stop attack on Tripoli and warns against Russian intervention

The United States has called on Libyan National Army Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter to stop his attack on the internationally recognized government-controlled capital Tripoli and warned of Russian intervention. “The US delegation representing a number of US government agencies affirmed support for Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s attempts to exploit the conflict in contravention of the will of the Libyan people,” the State Department said in a statement.
