Baqoura and Ghamr return to Jordan after 25 years

The 25-year-old agreement between Jordan and Israel expired formally, under which two plots of land, Baqoura and Ghamr on the border, were recognized under Jordanian sovereignty, and a special agreement allowed Israeli farmers to cultivate the land and visitors to roam the Peace Island Park in the area. On Sunday, King Abdullah II formally announced the end of the agreement, bringing the two areas back to Jordanian sovereignty.
